Many patients come to ProSpine Orlando already having had an MRI, X-ray, or CT, but still without a clear understanding of what the findings mean in relation to the pain they are experiencing.

An imaging report is extremely important, but it should not be considered in isolation. Findings such as disc herniation, protrusion, disc bulge, degeneration, spinal canal narrowing, joint changes, or loss of normal curvature should be evaluated together with your symptoms, history, mobility, and orthopedic and neurological examination.

At ProSpine Orlando, we review the available imaging to help determine whether the findings may be related to your clinical presentation and to decide which approach to care may be most appropriate.

What We Can Review With You

MRI / Magnetic Resonance Imaging

MRI can visualize discs, nerves, the spinal canal, and other soft-tissue structures. We can review the available findings and relate them to your history and clinical examination.

X-ray

X-rays can help evaluate alignment, spinal curves, degenerative changes, and bony structures. The images are considered as part of the patient's overall clinical picture.

CT / Computed Tomography

When available, CT imaging can provide additional information about bony structures and certain abnormalities. It can also be correlated with your symptoms and physical examination.

Why Seek a Clinical Second Opinion?

Sometimes a patient receives a report but still has questions: Does the finding really explain the pain? Is the change old, or could it be related to a recent injury? Is there involvement of a disc, joint, or nearby structure that should be considered before treatment?

A second clinical review does not replace the official radiologist's report. The goal is to review the available images and report in the context of your physical examination and symptoms, helping you better understand your condition and the next steps.

How Your Imaging Review Works

1. Bring Your Imaging

Bring the available images and reports from MRI, X-ray, CT, or other studies related to your condition.

2. Tell Us About Your Symptoms

We review when your symptoms started, where they are located, and which movements or activities make them worse.

3. We Correlate the Findings

We compare the imaging findings with your physical examination, mobility, symptoms, and clinical history.

4. Next Steps

We explain the relevant findings and discuss whether chiropractic care, additional imaging, or referral may be appropriate.

Common Findings That May Appear on Imaging

An imaging finding alone does not determine the cause of symptoms. This is why correlation with the clinical examination is essential.

We Don't Treat the Image Alone

Our focus is the patient. MRI or X-ray is part of the evaluation, but treatment should not be determined by imaging alone. Clinical decisions consider your symptoms, limitations, physical examination, history, and the available radiologic findings.

When your condition requires evaluation outside the chiropractic scope, additional imaging, or referral to another professional, this will be discussed with you.

Dr. Cleberton Bastos graduated from Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa, and has experience evaluating patients with a variety of musculoskeletal conditions and correlating imaging findings with clinical findings.

Frequently Asked Questions About MRI and X-ray Review

Can I bring an MRI or X-ray done at another clinic?

Yes. Bring the available images and corresponding reports so they can be reviewed in the context of your clinical evaluation.

Do you provide a second opinion on imaging?

We can provide a second clinical review of existing imaging and discuss how the findings may relate to your symptoms and physical examination. This review does not replace the official report of a radiologist.

Do I need the CD or images, or is the report enough?

Whenever possible, bring both the images and the report. The images provide additional information that cannot be obtained from the written report alone.

Does a disc herniation on MRI always cause pain?

Not necessarily. Imaging findings need to be correlated with symptoms, physical examination, and the patient's history before their clinical relevance can be determined.

Can you order new imaging if needed?

When clinically indicated and within the applicable professional scope, additional imaging may be recommended or ordered to help evaluate the condition.

Do you offer care in Portuguese?
