Chiropractic Care After a Car Accident in Orlando

Individualized care for people who developed pain, stiffness, or functional limitations after a motor vehicle accident.

Don't Ignore Symptoms After a Collision

After a car accident, some people feel pain immediately. Others begin to notice symptoms hours or even days later. Neck pain, lower back pain, pain between the shoulder blades, headaches, muscle tension, difficulty sleeping, stiffness, and discomfort while driving may develop after the trauma.

At ProSpine Orlando, your evaluation begins with a detailed discussion about the accident, your current symptoms, health history, and the activities that have become more difficult since the collision. The goal is to understand your condition before determining whether chiropractic care is appropriate.

Evaluation Before Treatment

Common Symptoms After Car Accidents

Neck Pain and Whiplash

Rapid acceleration and deceleration can strain the muscles, ligaments, and joints of the cervical spine. An evaluation helps identify which movements and structures may be related to your symptoms.

Lower Back Pain and Sciatica

Lower back pain may worsen when sitting, standing up, driving, or staying in one position. When pain radiates or there is tingling or numbness, a more detailed evaluation may be necessary.

Mid-Back and Shoulder Pain

The seat belt, body position, and force of impact can contribute to discomfort in the mid-back, ribs, shoulders, and muscles around the shoulder blades.

MRI and diagnostic imaging review after a car accident

Already Have an MRI, X-ray, or CT?

If you have already had diagnostic imaging, bring the images and corresponding reports to your appointment. Dr. Bastos can review the available studies together with your symptoms and physical examination findings to help plan the most appropriate care.

Imaging should not be considered in isolation. Our goal is to correlate what appears on the study with what you are feeling, your mobility, and the clinical findings. When necessary, we may recommend additional imaging or referral to another healthcare professional.

What to Expect During Your First Evaluation

1. History

We discuss how the accident happened, your symptoms, and how they affect your daily activities.

2. Examination

We evaluate mobility, painful areas, joint function, and other findings relevant to your condition.

3. Imaging

Existing imaging can be reviewed, and new studies may be ordered when clinically indicated.

4. Care Plan

If chiropractic care is appropriate, treatment is individualized according to your condition and tolerance.

Important: Florida's 14-Day Rule

If you were involved in a car accident in Florida, it is important to know that you have 14 days to seek medical attention after the accident. If you do not receive medical care within that period, you may lose the right to use your Personal Injury Protection (PIP) benefits for treatment of injuries related to the accident.

Don't wait until the last minute. If you have questions about the deadline or your coverage, contact ProSpine Orlando as soon as possible. Our team can work with your insurance company to verify your coverage and help you understand the next steps.

Treatment Based on Your Condition

Not every patient needs the same type of adjustment. At ProSpine Orlando, the technique and intensity of care are selected according to the evaluation, symptoms, age, clinical condition, and the patient's tolerance.

The goal is not simply to create cracking sounds. The focus is to work specifically on areas with altered mobility and function while always considering the patient's comfort and safety.

20+ years of clinical experience

Dr. Cleberton Bastos graduated from Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa, and treats patients with a variety of musculoskeletal conditions. His approach is based on evaluating each patient individually and adapting care to the condition presented.

Frequently Asked Questions About Car Accidents

When should I be evaluated after an accident?

If you are experiencing pain, stiffness, limited movement, or other symptoms after a collision, seek a clinical evaluation. In Florida, the PIP rule also makes it important to understand the 14-day deadline for initial care related to certain benefits.

Can I be evaluated even if the pain started later?

Yes. Some people notice symptoms immediately, while others develop discomfort later. Tell the doctor when your symptoms began and how they have changed since the accident.

Do I need an MRI or X-ray before my appointment?

Not necessarily. The need for diagnostic imaging depends on your history, symptoms, and evaluation findings. If you already have imaging, bring the images and available reports.

Can you review my existing imaging?

Yes. Studies such as MRI, X-ray, and CT can be reviewed together with your symptoms and physical examination to help guide your care plan.

Does every patient receive the same type of adjustment?

No. The approach is individualized. The technique used depends on the clinical condition, examination findings, and each patient's tolerance.

Do you offer care in Portuguese?

Yes. ProSpine Orlando provides care in Portuguese, English, and Spanish.
