Injured During Sports or Training?

Pain, stiffness, or loss of movement can limit your activity. Schedule your evaluation.

Individualized Evaluation

We evaluate the mechanism of injury, mobility, joint function, strength, and the activities that trigger your symptoms.

Restore Function and Movement

The care plan is adapted to the injury, activity level, and each patient's goals.

Sports Injury Treatment in Orlando

Individualized evaluation and care for athletes, gym-goers, and active people who want to return to their activities safely.

You Don't Have to Be a Professional Athlete to Have a Sports Injury

Injuries can happen during running, weight training, soccer, tennis, pickleball, cycling, contact sports, or simply after increasing training intensity. Some appear suddenly after a fall, impact, or awkward movement; others develop gradually from repetition and overuse.

At ProSpine Orlando, we begin by evaluating how the injury occurred, which movements cause pain, which activities have become limited, and which structures may be involved. The goal is to identify changes in mobility and function and determine whether chiropractic care and rehabilitation are appropriate for your condition.

Knee pain related to a sports injury

Pain Shouldn't Be Ignored

Common Problems Related to Sports and Exercise

Knee, Hip, and Ankle

Running, jumping, rapid changes of direction, and impact can overload the joints and tissues around the knee, hip, and ankle.

Shoulder, Elbow, and Wrist

Weight training, tennis, golf, throwing sports, and repetitive movements can cause pain and loss of mobility in the upper extremities.

Cervical, Thoracic, and Lumbar Spine

Weight lifting, impact, rotation, and repetitive strain can produce pain, stiffness, and functional limitations in the spine.

ProSpine Orlando therapeutic exercise and rehabilitation area

When Rehabilitation Is Needed

Depending on the injury and evaluation findings, care may include therapeutic exercises and rehabilitation activities to improve mobility, stability, strength, coordination, and function.

The area shown beside this section is used in the clinic for therapeutic exercises and rehabilitation activities when clinically indicated. The program is adapted to the patient's condition and tolerance, with progression as recovery improves.

The goal is not only to reduce pain, but also to help the patient restore movement and function so they can gradually return to the activities that are important to them.

How Your Evaluation Works

1. How It Happened

We discuss the sport, training activity, or movement related to the onset of symptoms.

2. Functional Examination

We evaluate mobility, painful areas, joint function, and other relevant findings.

3. Imaging, If Needed

Existing imaging can be reviewed, and new studies may be considered when clinically indicated.

4. Care Plan

When appropriate, care is individualized according to the injury, function, tolerance, and goals.

Acute Injuries and Overuse Injuries

Acute Injuries

They can occur after falls, collisions, twists, sudden movements, or excessive strain during activity.

  • Sprains and strains
  • Joint pain after impact
  • Limited movement
  • Muscle pain after exertion or trauma

Repetitive / Overuse Injuries

They may develop gradually when a structure is repeatedly exposed to the same load or movement.

  • Tendinopathies and tissue irritation
  • Pain related to running or weight training
  • Recurring shoulder or elbow discomfort
  • Pain that returns during certain movements

Gradual Return to Activity

Feeling less pain is important, but returning to sports also depends on mobility, strength, stability, and the ability to perform specific movements without aggravating the condition. Progress is evaluated individually, and return to activity should respect the nature of the injury and functional recovery.

Frequently Asked Questions About Sports Injuries

Do I need to be a professional athlete to receive care?

No. We care for active people at different levels, from recreational exercisers and gym-goers to patients who participate in sports regularly.

Do you treat knee and shoulder pain?

We can evaluate musculoskeletal problems involving the knee, shoulder, and other joints to determine whether the care offered in the clinic is appropriate or whether another referral is needed.

Can I bring my MRI or X-ray?

Yes. If you already have imaging, bring the images and available reports so they can be considered together with your symptoms and physical examination.

Do you provide rehabilitation exercises?

When clinically indicated, therapeutic exercises and rehabilitation activities may be part of the care plan to improve mobility, stability, strength, and function.

When can I return to sports?

That depends on the type and severity of the injury and your functional progress. Return should be individualized and progressive, taking symptoms, movement, stability, and functional capacity into account.

Do you offer care in Portuguese?
